The Edexcel Level 2 NVQ in Road Passenger Vehicle Driving is recommended for individuals working in the following professions:

• Community transport drivers
• Hackney carriage and private hire drivers
• Chauffeur/chauffeuse
• Taxi drivers

Candidates are expected to be working in one of the above areas, and on commencing this qualification must hold all required licenses, as driving a vehicle is an essential requirement of this NVQ.

What progression does this NVQ offer?

On completion of the Edexcel Level 2 NVQ in Road Passenger Vehicle Driving, candidates may progress to more senior positions such as leading driver, supervisor or inspector. It also offers progression to further vocational related qualifications (VRQs) such as the Level 2 BTEC Award in Transporting Passengers by Taxi and Private Hire.

What is the structure of the course?

To achieve the whole qualification at Level 2, you must complete the following units:

• Ensure the health and safety in your work environment in the road passenger transport industry
• Drive community transport, chauffeured, taxi or private hire vehicles safely and efficiently
• Provide professional customer service in the community transport, chauffeur, taxi and private hire vehicle industries
• Deal effectively with difficult passengers
• Deal with emergencies and incidents during a journey transporting passengers in the community transport, chauffeur and taxi and private hire industries
• Provide a transport service in the community transport, chauffeur, taxi and private hire vehicle industries for passengers who require assistance
• Transport children and young persons by taxi, private hire or chauffeuring
